Otelemaba Amachree Debunks Impeachment Rumours at the Rivers State House of Assembly, Says he is still the Speaker

Above is the letter written and signed by the Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Amachree and signed by 26 Members of the House. Below is the letter typed out for readability.

The attention of the undersigned members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have been drawn to the alleged and widely publicized “Impeachment” of the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otelema Daniel Amachree by five sponsored and disgruntled members of the Assembly.

We state for the benefit of the public that no such situation existed on the floor of the House on the 9th of July, 2013. These are mere machinations of the five members desperate to do their masters bidding.

The purported claim by a member of the Assembly, Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi to be the new speaker of the state Assembly is outrightly false and hallucinations of the most debased form. We urge members of the public and the press to disregard such claims.
The public is also informed of matters that are currently before the courts in the Rivers State judiciary.

We hereby declare that we are hundred percent behind our Speaker, Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree even as we are fully in support of our Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

We condemn the desperation of the Abuja based politicians to scuttle democracy in Rivers State. We call on the Inspector-General Police to ensure the safety of lives and property in Rivers State.

We urge Rivers people to remain calm and peaceful. Truth, justice and the will of the people will always triumph. Light will always triumph over darkness.

God bless Rivers State

  1. Please, all what we are praying for is peace. With these kind of distractions, no meaningful development can ever take place. A soil that is not fertile can't bear good fruits.

God bless Rivers State, God bless Nigeria and her leaders...Amen
